Undercover deputies charge Euphoria Fest visitors with drug possession

April 13, 2016  – American-Statesman — Seven people attending an Austin music festival last weekend were charged with possessing drugs including marijuana, psychedelic mushrooms, MDMA (also known as Molly), LSD, ketamine, cocaine, methamphetamine and heroin.  The Euphoria Fest took place from Thursday to Sunday at Carson Creek Ranch, just outside Austin’s city limits near Austin-Bergstrom International Airport.

Four of the drug arrests were made by undercover Travis County deputies who observed someone handing off or being handed drugs, the arrest affidavits say.  Euphoria Fest has a strict “no tolerance” policy toward drug use, organizers said. Patrons are searched upon entry and signs posted throughout the fest alert attendees about the policy.  In addition to the four undercover arrests, two arrests were made after security guards saw someone either receive or ingest drugs, and one person was arrested at the entrance gate after a bag check.  The seven arrested were all men between the ages of 19 to 36.  Those arrested and charged with marijuana possession also had mushrooms and the drug Ecstasy with them as well, the arrest affidavits said.
